Scott DeGarmo became Editor in Chief of SUCCESS Magazine in April, 1984, and quickly turned it into the fastest growing business magazine in the country – one that addresses the needs of entrepreneurs and those serving the booming entrepreneurial market.
Self-employed business owners of companies comprised only 4 percent of the readership of SUCCESS when DeGarmo took over. Today, that category comprises 89% of the readers of the magazine. Syndicated research also shows that SUCCESS is read more thoroughly by its readers than are other business publications – nearly 30 percent reported reading SUCCESS from cover to cover, a figure unmatched by any similar publication.
Since taking over the magazine, DeGarmo has doubled its circulation, to its current level of 400,000. On the newsstand, SUCCESS outsells all other business magazines. DeGarmo and his wife, Barbara, an editor, live in New York City and two children, Madden and Julia.
