SMEI Policy – Remedial Certification Examinations
Failure of First Examination Attempt:
- Applicants who fail the certification exam must rewrite the examination within 6 months of the original examination date. A fee will be charged for a remedial examination.
- Failure of Remedial Examination: Applicants who fail their first remedial examination must rewrite the examination within 6 months of the 1st remedial examination. A fee will be charged for a remedial examination.
- Applicants who require further study time using the Online Learning System course are required to pay an extension fee if they have exceeded their 365-day online course access period.
Failure of 2nd Remedial Examination:
Applicants who fail their 2nd remedial examination wishing to retake the examination must reapply and pay the certification application and testing fee and are entitled to a 50% discount on the prevailing application and testing fee providing they reapply within 365 days of their 2nd remedial exam date.
Partial rewrites are not permitted.
Remedial examination fees are non-refundable.
Applicants who do not write a remedial exam within 6 months of the original examination date must reapply for certification if they wish to sit for the exam. Applicants are entitled to a 50% discount on the prevailing application and testing fee providing they reapply within 365 days of their exam date.
